After a long week camping we still had smiles all round.
I even got to drive the pick up truck
Using a rose as an analogy for this week, the petal was seeing a moose mother and baby close up, as well as deer, birds and beautiful landscapes. And the thorn of the week was falling in a river and being wet all day. Looking back it must have been hilarious to see. (I wish someone had caught it on video.)
So this week we have been doing integrated riparian monitoring, which involves analysing river geomorphology (the shape and flow of rivers). It takes a full day to do one stream. It may be hard work but the beauty of the streams and scenery were a worthwhile reward. The aim is to see if cattle grazing affects the way the system works. In Montana there are more cows than people. (That’s a fact.)
And our camp fires and smores keep us going
I’m happy to be back in the yurt now, all showered and refreshed. These three day weekend are fab…
Bring it on!!!
