Last night we went to see a production of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. It was a four character play and was done very well. It was set in St Louis in the south. At first it was hard to work out what accents the actors were trying to imitate but a quick Wikipedia in the interval cleared it all up. I am still getting used to hearing different American accents.
The play was narrated by a son who worked very hard in a factory and lived with his mother and ill sister. The mother a middle aged southerner was very eccentric and was obsessed with finding her daughter a suitor. The son felt trapped living with his family and the play ended with him leaving.
It was fun to see something different and the play was done so well.
